Financial education

Part of the ethos of a credit union is that, as well as offering financial services, we help to educate people about managing money. We want to help people learn how to manage their finances so that they find it easier to budget and save and are less likely to get into debt that they cannot afford.

All loan applications are examined carefully to make sure the applicant can afford the repayments. Because we are small and local, we can meet applicants face to face and discuss any issues. We offer advice should they find they have difficulty repaying their loan.

We work with the Citizens Advice Bureau and Perth & Kinross Councilís Welfare Rights Team to offer solutions to people facing financial difficulties.

Our volunteers are also keen to give talks to schools or other organisations explaining the value of saving and budgeting. If you are interested in arranging a talk, please get in touch.
