Borrowing

Consumers are becoming more cautious. Consumer credit has been in the news for all the wrong reasons lately. Many people have experiences of mis-sold loan and insurance products, excessive interest rates and unfair charges and redemption penalties, poor customer service and policies designed to favour the company rather than the borrower.

Part of the beauty of a credit union loan is its flexibility. There is little point in paying interest on a bigger loan than you need to fit in with a lender’s cookie cutter products, and why should you be penalised for changing your mind? Not only are loans made at a very competitive interest rate, but repayments include an element of saving, so borrowing from a credit union can make you better off twice over.

Credit is like a chainsaw - used wisely it can be a very useful tool, but carelessness can make it destructive. Unlike other lenders, credit unions look at the whole picture, and issue loans where they will be beneficial, not burdensome.
